The big innovation at the Netherlandish Avonturenpark Hellendoorn, which is officially set to open in June, seems to be a little peculiar. It is supposed to be a 5,000 square metre outdoor water slide park named "Aquaventura", without the amusement park having a pool area. Eleven single slides with separate safety exits should still be more than reason enough for little and big water slide fans to pay the surcharge of six euros.

PortAventura piles up

After the Italian private equity firm Investindustrial took full control of the Spanish theme park and resort PortAventura, located near Barcelona, last year, it announced that it is going to invest around 75 million EUR in the park on the Mediterranean Sea – light at the end of the tunnel for Spain which has been hit hard by the economic crisis.
