Water slide park in Hellendoorn

"Dark Devil" - black hole at Aquaventura
The big innovation at the Netherlandish Avonturenpark Hellendoorn, which is officially set to open in June, seems to be a little peculiar. It is supposed to be a 5,000 square metre outdoor water slide park named "Aquaventura", without the amusement park having a pool area. Eleven single slides with separate safety exits should still be more than reason enough for little and big water slide fans to pay the surcharge of six euros.

The slide manufacturer, the Turkish company Polin Waterpark & Pool Systems, was founded in 1976 in Istanbul and belongs to the leading companies in the water park equipment area today. There are currently Polin products in 82 different countries all over the world. Some of the slides are still being unnamed, for others however, the official name was already searched and found by a Facebook campaign of the park. So, for example "Green Fall", a ten metre high free fall slide, just like "Twist & Twirl", a 80 metre long body slide which also has a height of ten metres.

A risky concept in Hellendoorn

A second body slide "Tornado Twist" is a little shorter and lower. "Wacky Wave" is a boomerang which is to be experienced with tubes, while "Dark Devil", also set for tubes, is abducting its guests into the darkness of a black hole. Another tube slide, the name is still being searched for via Facebook, features 14 metres in height and 130 metres in lengths with an open air part, and finishes with a black hole part.Three children slides, the wide slide "Double Trouble" and one multilane named "Rainbow Racer" complete the offerings of the new water slide park.

The concept of providing "Aquaventura" without swimming pools and only counting on the attractive force of the elven slides, seems a little risky. Additionally, the fact that towels and bathing suits are needed could become problematic because not every guest is willing to carry along extra ballast when visiting the amusement park. The extra surcharge could also become a problem because surcharge attractions are basically not welcomed by visitors. But despite any objection, it will be exciting to see if this idea of Avonturenpark Hellendoorn works out and how the visitors will accept this new attraction.
