Wallace & Gromit, the new characters at Blackpool
Blackpool Pleasure Beach just announced their new attraction for 2013. They confirmed long-standing rumours about the two main characters of one of Britain's most famous movie characters, Wallace & Gromit, finding their home in the traditional amusement park on the west coast and get their very own dark ride.

The characters, the inveterate inventor Wallace and his dog Gromit – which, in general, has got a higher level of intelligence than its owner – are made from moulded plasticine and filmed with stop motion clay animation. The new family ride called "Thrill-O-Matic” will feature elements of the well-known adventures of their four short films "A Grand Day Out”, "The Wrong Trousers”, "A Close Shave”, and "A Matter Of Loaf And Death”. All the different fabrications and the many adventures of these two very British guys will soon take guests at Blackpool Pleasure Beach into their own little world and let them experience, how difficult it is to live the life of an inventor – or of an inventor's dog, respectively.

The new dark ride will replace the old classic "Gold Mine”, which closed at the end of 2011's season, using the existing track but creating a totally new story and theming with the best-loved characters of the series. Planned and designed in cooperation with the creators of Aardman Animations, the adventure will take almost four minutes and feature animatronics of the characters. All in all, Blackpool Pleasure Beach will spend £5.25 million on this unique ride, which has been in the works since 2010, as Nick Park, the Oscar-winning animator behind the series, confirmed. Visitors will also be able to buy Wallace & Gromit licensed souvenirs and goodies in a merchandise shop, which will be included in the new ride's building.
