Hansa-Park: Kärnan is coming

Germany has a very promising future for coaster enthusiasts. Not less than three big new attractions will be launched in the course of the upcoming season – and Hansa-Park in Sierksdorf off the Baltic Sea has made an announcement for a 2015 attraction that was sure to make all of them licking their lips in anticipation. It said that a new hypercoaster is coming, putting the competitors in the north under great pressure.

The German teaser on the furture attraction reads "Kärnan is coming” in English. So it is named after the well-known tower built in the early 14th century. This leads to the assuption that the new coaster will be a replica of the only remaining structure of a medieval fortress which, by the way, towers 35 metres on a hill in the Swedish town of Helsingborg. The coaster will supposably exceed this height by far because the term 'Hypercoaster' defines a height ranging from 61 to 91 metres. "Shambhala” at PortAventura is to date the tallest in Europe with 78 metres – Hansa-Park theoretically could thus feature a coaster that breaks this record in the continent in future. However, since merely the name and type have so far been announced and since details regarding the track lengths and height remain in the dark, this is just pure speculation – the manufacturer is not known either. A wild guess can be made on Gerstlauer when looking at the trains shown in the first artwork.

The groundbreaking ceremony is planned before the end of the year and the construction period will probably last 18 months. So it is rather unlikely that it will be finished in time for the start of the 2015 season. According to the announcement, the majority of guests and fans wanted much room for speculations. Therefore, only one thing is for certain now: Kärnan is coming!
