Djurs Sommerland

Piraten
Mega-lite coaster "Piraten"
After spending a pleasant day out at Legoland Billund, it was about time again to visit an amusement park which is particularly appreciated among roller coaster enthusiasts. We went to the north of Denmark until we reached our next stop Djurs Sommerland where three new coasters – all award or even record breaker in Europe – have been invested within the last five years.

Besides a pure kiddie coaster and the nicely decorated bobsled coaster "Thors Hammer", the establishment of this 'action trio' started out with the Mega-lite coaster "Piraten" in 2008. Despite the rather modest size of roughly 750 metres in lengths and 32 metres in height, this Intamin steel coaster does not lack behind regarding the riding sensation with lots of airtime. Three years later, Europe's tallest water coaster "Skatteøen" was launched. In contrast to its prototype "Poseidon" at Europa-Park, it is a very gentle and calm ride. Thanks to the brand-new double-launch coaster "Juvelen" (see article Juvelen at Djurs Sommerland), the park has once and for all become a prime attraction for coaster fans throughout the world.

However, this thrill machine is not the feature that determines the charm of this tourist attraction near the city of Aarhus. The amusement park of around 47 hectares is blessed with a beautiful nature landscape that creates a corresponding atmosphere. Furthermore, it offers a wide range of attractions for the youngest. They will discover several rides, as well as climbing facilities and play areas, while their parents can have a picnic in the spacious lawn areas, that also include trampolines or playgrounds, and keep an eye on them at the same time. Also conspicuous is the typical Scandinavian friendliness of the employees who greet ever guests with an honest smile – if one or another big amusement park in Germany could only take a leaf out of their book!

Amusement and water park

Djurs Sommerland
Vandland: fun in the water
What would a Scandinavian Sommerland be without the mixture of amusement and water park? Djurs Sommerland is no exception, and thus, its large water park "Vandland" welcomes visitors with a total of fifteen slides, a wave pool and some heated pools which make it, according to its own information, the largest of its kind in Denmark. We recommend those who want to visit the whole park to bring swimsuit, and to enjoy the exceptional gastronomic offerings.

No question: Djurs Sommerland convinces visitors, day visitor or long-term tourists, across the board. The fact is: We would be pleased to return – as soon as possible.
