Camping Jelling

Ferienpark Camping Jelling
One of Camping Jelling's mobile homes
After paying a visit to the Heide Park Resort and Hansa-Park, we headed to Denmark – when preparing our tour, Camping Jelling caught our eye. Idyllically situated on a rural area at the edge of the Viking village named Jelling, the small holiday park is around twenty driving minutes away from our next stop in Billund.

The park clearly sets its focus on families, and provides several options for accommodation. There area classical Danish wooden chalets with or without sanitary facilities, new mobile homes with two or three bedrooms, or pitches for own tents, caravans or camper vans. We picked a mobile home that, from the outside, looks rather small but the inside was surprisingly spacious, and the equipment leaves little to be desired. The living room is furnished with a dining area and a sofa bed as well as a TV with DVD player and HDMI input. Four hot plates, a large fridge, microwave, coffee machine and a kettle are to be found in the kitchen. A particularly nice feature is that the wooden porch of around fifteen square metres, equipped with seating accommodations, a table and even a deckchair, is partly roofed so that guests will not get wet when pelting rain falls.

Many on-site activities

Camping Jelling is not only a good starting point for visiting amusement parks, but also suited for those who wish to go for the regional sights or simply want to spend more spare time with the whole family in Denmark. Guests are spoilt for choice: a football field, a beach-volleyball court, a pétanque area, miniature golf, a bicycle and pedal kart rental, playgrounds and climbing facilities for the little ones, table tennis and a heated swimming pool with diving boards and a separate kiddie pool. Guests who would like to eat out, can look forward to a nice range of gastronomic offerings that consists of a restaurant, café, bar and a big courtyard with a BBQ area.

Legoland Billund, the animal and nature park Enghave, Givskud Zoo with the largest lion pride in Europe, Skærup Zoo, the science centre Danfoss Universe and the fortress town of Fredericia are just some of the interesting attractions easily accessible by car. Another hint worth mentioning is discovering the Danish capital, Copenhagen, which is roughly 240 kilometres away. We appreciated Camping Jelling as a perfect starting point for visiting Legoland Billund, Djurs Sommerland and Tivoli Friheden. It is, by the way, good to know that this holiday park accepts electronic cash and euro – so it is not necessary to exchange the money in Danish krone beforehand.
