Phantasialand: Asia Nights 2013

Asia Nights im Phantasialand
Chinese acrobats performing a stunning artistic show
Charging an extra fee for special evening events is not common practice in every amusement park. Take as an example Phantasialand, which has done so for several years now. The German theme park near Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, invites visitors to its Asian section where the summer show "Asia Nights" is presented from 7 p.m. onwards, for free – despite the highly impressive programme, especially for families with children.

This year again, the show reaches its peak at around 10 p.m. when the open air stage of "China Town" turns into an enchanting temple were singing, dancing and four first-class artistic performances, which combines juggling, contortion and partner acrobatics from the Middle Kingdom, are the undisputed highlights for 45 minutes. A special magical moment is visible when the contour lightings, which wind around the pagodas, shine after the final, making the exotic setting thus yet more beautiful.

Children will not find any reason to become grumpy or impatient when waiting for the show to start, because there is an extensive programme for them, also for free. The activities include e.g. a kiddie disco with the dragon named Wang, a magician, a hula hoop and drawing contest and even face painters who create a little artwork on the cheeks of the young or young at heart. Moreover, child care is provided during the entire colourful entertainment programme.

Menu in Mandschu

The Eastern cuisine has slightly changed this year. Instead of an à la carte menu in the Chinese restaurant "Mandschu", guests are offered specific menus with two, three or four courses. They can spend a balmy summer evening by enjoying the fabulous view of the stage and the whole themed segment right from the terrace. It is best to book a table in advance. Those who prefer calmness are very well advised to enter a special lounge area. This place, which is a bit further away from the hustle and bustle, also entices with diverse Asian gastronomic delights, except children's dishes though – at least on the opening evening, maybe that will be added later on.

China Town at Asia Nights
As in previous years, "China Town" is filled with varied cookshops where visitors are able to watch the cooks in action. Whether fried noodles, Asian suckling pig or rice dishes: there is a temptingly wide range at average prices. Numerous benches with tables, at which delicious meals by candlelight can be enjoyed, are placed right next to the stage.

It is always fascinating to see, how Phantasialand can provide such an event without charging one single EUR more. From 7 p.m. onwards, visitors may stroll along the fantastic world of China, discover the Asian spirit and look forward to a wide range of gastronomic delights from Far East. Those who do not feel like going to a crowded beer garden, should consider making a guest appearance at "Asia Nights" that lasts until 31st August, 2013 ...
