Kölner Zoo, the Cologne zoo, is the third oldest zoological garden in Germany and has, in the younger history of Cologne, continually played a special role. Located centrally in the city, the zoo is renowned for keeping the animals in a modern, animal-friendly way. Great apes, monkeys and big cats live in elaborately designed enclosures. Cologne zoo currently houses ca. 7000 animals of 700 species on an area of about 50. Located in the Riehl quarter of Cologne, Kölner Zoo is of international renown and participates successfully in many conservation breeding programs of species that are threatened with extinction.

Love the elephants
The elephants in this Zoo have got a great compound, it's quite huge. You can have a look at these animals from so may points and observe them.
Another highlight is the rainforest-house. You can walk through a subtropical forest ans explore a lot of different animals. Some bird or bats a also flying freely! Remind me of my hometown :)

The apes – especially the baboons – are so hilarious. I could sit in front of the mountain and watch them the whole day playing tag or just chill in the sun. Really relaxing. One of the newest parts is the Hippodom, where you can observe hippos and alligators. But there is more to come as there are many construction areas for new compounds right now.
