400 acres at Berlin-Friedrichsfelde Zoo form one of the largest landscaped animal parks in Europe. Spacious open-air enclosures for herds of hoofed animals, large expanses of water for goose birds and flamingos as well as majestic stable houses like the Alfred Brehm house for cats of prey and tropical birds, pachyderm barn for elephants, rhinos, manatees and pygmy hippopotamus as well as a colibri/crocodile house await animal fans from all around the globe. Far more than one million visitors come to the Berlin-Friedrichsfelde Zoo every year to rest and to relax. The historical centre of the zoo is Friedrichsfelde Castle, which has been transformed into a museum.
