Opened in October 1984, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is home to some 550 species, including sharks, rays, penguins, otters, giant octopuses, and many more. In the famous "Outer Bay Basin” there is also the world's largest community of marine animals - be it tunas, rays, hammerhead sharks or sea turtles, here in the Monterey Bay Aquarium, they all live together in a giant water basin with a capacity of more than 1.2 million gallons of water.

Opening hours and pricing
Monterey Bay Aquarium is open daily except Christmas Day. Regular hours are from 10am to 6pm, in winter from 10am to 5pm, during the summer holiday period from 9:30am to 6pm and on summer weekends from 9:30am to 8pm.

Not cheap with ticket prices of about 30$ but absolutely worth visiting. The Kelp Forest Aquarium was really impressing!
