London Zoo was founded in 1828 and at that time was the first scientific zoo in the British capital. Later, it opened its gates to the public in 1847. Today the zoological garden houses more than 2,200 animals of 736 species on a vast area which makes it stand out as one of the leading zoos in the world. London Zoo is located at the north end of Regent's Park in London. Inside the zoo you can cross both Regent's Canal as well as the Outer Circle, as the zoo grounds have grown over time.

What a zoo !!!
I visited the London Zoo two or three years ago. There are tons of listed buildings, and I really like the African Bird Safari, the Butterfly Paradise, Into Africa and Gorilla Kingdom (great Walk-Throughs)... It is hard to cover all attractions on one day. The zoo looks clean and really focuses on well-treatment.
I hated the peak hour because it gets too crowded and it becomes hard to watch performances. And the park was expensive, but I guess those are "London prices" ;)
Other than that, it was a fantastic day!

Best to visit in summer!
I believe the London Zoo is one of the best known in the world and once you visit it, you will see why. I’ve went there before, so I know how great it can be, but the experience you have during the winter is not as great. Most animals will hide when it’s cold, so if you have a choice go at the London Zoo during the spring or summer, when it’s warm and you get the full experience. It’s definitely not that fun during the winter, when many of the animals are moved inside. Wouldn’t recommend it right now, but definitely go when it’s warm.

A beautiful zoo, but a bit expensive. I've been there last year with my girlfriend and her two children, and we had to pay more than 70 pounds!!
