Opened as early as 1894, Lakemont Park is one of the classical American trolley parks – a destination outside the big cities and usually located at the end of a tramway, which was a very popular concept at the end of the 19th century. The now eighth oldest park in the United States, located in Altoona, Pennsylvania, today has more than thirty rides, and in the form of Island Waterpark it features a water park that is incorporated into Lakemont Park, having slides, pools and an area especially designed for children.
