The Zoological Society of Dublin was founded in the year 1830 and the first animals to find their home there came from the London Zoo. Today, Dublin Zoo houses more than 700 animals on an area of about 18 acres in the middle of Phoenix Park. If you plan on visiting Ireland, you should certainly go see the third-oldest zoo in the world, especially since there have been lots of innovations and additions when Dublin Zoo underwent extensive renovation.
