The zoo Dierenpark Planckendael is located halfway between Brussels and Antwerp in the city of Mechelen, which has 80,000 inhabitants, and ranks among the outstanding zoos in the country. Actually it's a branch of Antwerp Zoo. Dierenpark Planckendael is divided into the theme areas South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and the giraffe's area. Having been opened in 1956, Dierenpark Planckendael today spans an area of around 100 acres and has developed into a fast-growing zoological garden.
Opening hours and pricing
Dierenpark Planckendael is open daily from 10am. Closing times are from November to February at 4:45pm, in March, April and October at 5:30pm, in May, June and September at 6pm and in July and August at 7pm.
